Artist Statement In the places where the tall pines grow, you’ll find where the doves and scorpions hide. Paired for life as symbols of purity and goodness. Separated from one another, the scorpions emerge. Venomous ghosts carrying light to intoxicate darkness. Children of the Scorpion Killer, your purpose is undefined. Stoneware ceramic enantiomers produced by Lynette Peters, artist and conceiver of Cerberus Pottery and the Cerberus Helmet Project. Produced annually for the True Patriot Love Foundation Auction and by corporate commission, sale of these original artforms support programs and services for Canadian Armed Forces Veterans. Artforms are unique as they are vessels of the artist; they contain phenomenologically rich meaning and experiences through non-verbal narration that traverse barriers of culture, language and time. Artist Bio Lynette A. Peters is a ceramic artist and researcher based in East Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia. Her practice weaves mythology, craftsmanship, and lived experience, exploring clay as a vernacular of language bearing stories, as individuals renew identity as makers while honouring a military past. Like Medusa, she is known through what endures: the legacy of her children and the art petrified by her gaze. Connect with Lynette on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cerberus_pottery
