John Honsberger was born February 6,1923 in Toronto, Ontario. He
served in World War 11 in the Canadian Army Anti-tank artillery, 4th
Division, 3rd Battery.
Following his service, he returned home where marriage and family and
a legal career awaited him. John was a gifted lawyer, author, scholar
and legal historian. He practiced law until the age of 90, and was
recognized for outstanding contributions to the legal profession.
These include being the first recipient of the Law Society of Upper
Canada medal, the Award of Distinction from the Toronto Lawyers
Association and the Order of Ontario.
John currently resides at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre and continues
to pursue numerous artistic, writing, reading and research projects.
John's love of painting began as a young man and provided a source of
comfort to him during his service overseas and has continued throughout
his lifetime. As John says, " Painting for me is both a hobby and a
need to be creative, to make something new that did not exist before.
I paint to relax."
